January 2010

January 2010

A new year with new joys and new problems. Let's get the bad news out of the way first... Eli's rabbit Amber Secret died suddenly. She was quite old but much loved too. It was a blessing we went to collect our new additions to the family on New Year's Eve and started the year with extra ones to love to help fill the hole left behind.

So.. healthwise I now have angina to cope with, which means daily medication for life and carrying around a spray for times when I may have sudden chest pains etc.

Carlisle have had a few bad games but seem to be in much better shape this year (football for those who don't know).

The new family consists of three rescued cats. In order of seniority, Foxx is an eighteen year old female who has never had a home to call her own. She is a lovely tabby who acts like a kitten of 18 weeks instead of a sedate old lady. Such affection from a cat who has every reason to hate the world. It makes you think. Next is Zinnia, who is an eleven year old female white cat with black tail and patches on her face. She is blind in one eye, possibly from birth, and was rescued after being shot in the face with an airgun. She is very affectionate and has 'adopted' Eli as her personal property. The "baby" of the group is Maulberry, who is a three year old black female with a tiny patch of white on her tummy, and lovely green eyes. She was a stray and seems so happy to have a comfortable place to live that she spends most of her days asleep on my bed! She demands a full on cuddle when I can spare it, chirruping for my attention before leaping into my lap or demanding to be picked up. She wakes me that way in the mornings too, which is better than a noisy alarm clock.

We still have the three outside rabbits, Poppy, the eldest girl, a dutch brown and white with a lovely nature. Honeysuckle, the boy mini-lop in tan and white, and Bramble, the dalmatian rex. The last two were rescued but Poppy was my first ever rabbit and the reason why we love them so much.

As I have only just got the computer upgraded to run safari and mac OSX Tiger, I have been unable to blog for a while, so this is the only blog for January 2010. I hope to upload more stuff on the other blogs next month, plus keep this journal a bit more up to date.
